Creative Intervention

I have a problem. I admit it. It has been getting worse over the colder months and has recently become a full-blown addiction. It is.....gaming on facebook. Specifically, it's FarmTown and Jungle Jewels (I know...don't say it). I need an intervention! Normally, I would have spent my little bit of free time reading or painting or crafting, but I am taking less and less time for those types of activities and spending more time playing those.....silly games! Someone help!

I need ideas for projects that will hold my interest enough to get me away from FarmTown. Any suggestions?! :-)

I am considering taking up knitting.........
(sigh)

Don't you just love thiose twine balls? Or are they yarn? Don't you wish you had some of your own? Hmmm, so what do you havethat could be wound round and round until you've created a bowl full of eye candy just like in the picture here. I think torn pieces of fabric would look great. Did you know you can bend some twigs when wet and they will stil that way when dry? Tiny little twigs wrapped around a tiny acorn to start would work. How about a rubber band ball? Oh my I think you could maybe crochet a ball or two or knit. I wonder what a paper mache ball would look like? Hmmm, I'm afraid I have the same problem. My addictions are Farm Ville and Fish Ville. Dang FaceBook, why does it have to be so fun? OK, set a timer time!!!

I head a funny funny line one day on a podcast I listen to called Craftcast with Alison Lee. She said "put the glue gun down and step away from the computer" The visual was terrific.

You know when I want to step away from the computer I listen to my favorite podcasts. Another two favorites that are totally inspiring is Craftypod and BTR Craft Lounge. All three are free on itunes. Or you can simply go to their sites and listen to the inspiration.

My addiction is reading blogs although I really like Facebook but I have not succumbed to the games on it. My friends have and they say the same thing. They are addicted.
Watch HGTV or DIY network...those are addicting too, though. My, we are an addictive society aren't we?

LOL. I SO get it! For me it is Bejewelled Blitz! I'm finally getting over it, though, I think. The key for me: I set myself a time limit. Whenever I log on and start to play, I look at the little clock in the corner of my screen and then tell myself I MUST quit at X time (usually I pick a time that ends in a 10 minute interval or so: you know, if it's 12:17, then I say, "Okay, cheryl, at 12:30 you WILL log off, no matter what." It's hard sometimes, but it's good practice for the self-discipline. Then, once I'm away, I don't miss it (until next time!) :)
